After a week with seven round robin games, and one tie breaker game against Spain, the Irish Ladies made it through to the playoffs against Slovakia in a bid for the Silver medal and a chance of promotion to the B division championships. A close fought game however went the Slovakians way and the Clare's team came home with the Bronze.

Our medal winner, Clare adds

"Never expected to be in this position when I took up curling 4or 5 years ago as an antidote to retirement !!!.

The championship competition was a rollercoaster ride with the loss to Romania, who hadn't won a game taking us right down the table, and then the win, later the same day, against previously unbeaten France, taking us into contention for a medal place.

Many thanks to Uplawmoor curlers for being so friendly and encouraging when I was a complete newcomer. I would never be doing this without you"
