All Change as Prize Giving Dance Gives Way To Cheese And Wine Party
It was a case of all change for this year’s annual Prizegiving ceremony when the club’s trophies were presented to the proud winners at a Cheese and Wine Party, which followed on from the Annual General Meeting.
Normally the Prize Giving takes place at an end of season dance, but early indications were that we would struggle to get the numbers needed to make it a success, and this prompted a re-think.
The new event was held in the Mure Hall on Friday April 24, and voted a huge success with around twenty members attending the AGM before club President Buff Scott welcomed around a dozen partners and friends to the Cheese and Wine part of the evening when the prizes were presented.
Buff said: “It was a really good evening on several levels.
“The AGM was very constructive and the Cheese and Wine and Prize Giving both went extremely well. So it is a format we may well adopt again next year.
"However like many other clubs we have great difficulty in attracting young people to join the club and fill the gaps when older members give up curling.
“It’s a problem we are tying our best to address, and I would just like to extend a very warm welcome to anyone who would like to join Uplawmoor Curling Club whether they are experienced players, complete novices, or somewhere in between”.
